Fear Not Death by angelicremains Fear Not Death by angelicremains
Another deviation moved from my main account.

Original Description from 2004:
"...for the sooner we die, the longer
shall we be immortal."

I got this in my head yesterday and HAD to get it out before it went away. Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult has been stuck in my head for almost a week now. And as it is Nathanael's song, I got this little image of him romancing Melakim's mother, Julia Fahre, a cleric in the cloister of The Order of the Sacred Path. What would you do if you could see, hear, and feel the angel of death? (and a dead sexy one at that. Pun intended.) More on the story behind this on the finished version.

Critiques? Nathanael's supposed to be kind of hazy and indistinct like a vision, with a backdrop of gausy material and the night sky showing through the window, with candles burning in front of Julia (just in case you couldn't make out my details). I'm thinking of coloring this on cardstock, but what color cardstock? Any blaring anatomical errors? Character mistakes I made? Suggestions? BRING IT ON!

Julia Fahre owes her sad, sad existence to me.
Nathanael is :iconjessicadouglas:'s gorgeous reaper. (Nate sure does like to possess people to draw him recently, doesn't he?)

I'm a little iffy on Nathaneal's right wing. I know there is a feeling of "arm" being more curved and whatnot, which leads to the largre array of big feathers furling out. But what seems odd is that the arm looks smaller in length but much thicker than the left wing arm, leaving the left wing in general to be smaller than the right. But, some of this may look wierd simply because of the boldness of line used on the wing compared to the rest of the piece, which obviosly will be fixed naturally due to inking and painting and whatnot.

Uh, I felt really out of character for a second *ahem*

Picture purdy, its teh rox0rs!

(seriously, the pic rocks, colour it or else!)

yep.

ehh hehe..yeah just a little bit of dirty thinking there. But this IS a picture about seduction..so you aren't too far from the truth of it all. Though it's supposed to be a little more romanticized in this pic than pr0n

Cock....that's such a strange word.....and yet my chinese zodiac animal just HAS to be called a cockXD

uhm yes..thanks for commenting

!. Cannot wait for the finished Piece
2. Don't Fear the Reaper is cool song
3. The backing, make a darker card stock (ei: dark purple, midnight blue, black)
4. Face on the woman, (Julia Fahre?) her face is slightly indistinguisable
5. Nathanials forhead, seems alittle big o.o just a smidge

Other than that, It looks really awesome, and I really cant wait to see the finished piece... and if you make it into a print, I am going to have to figure a way to buy it o.o

...Whoa! This is awesome! The poses in the picture are very fluid and the whole thing has a sort of pretty/creepy feel to it (which I love, hehehe ^^) But you know, depending on how you look at it, it could also be very sad or... I can't really think of the word... sort of a "letting it go" feel. (I hope I don't sound like an idiot now )

The only thing I can see that might need to be fixed (and others have pointed it out) is the size of the guy's head (I don't know who the characters are, sooo...) but it looks like it'll be stunning when it's done.

heehehe I'm glad you picked up on the pretty/creepy feel of it. IT's meant to be sort of disturbing in its own way. more will be explained on the full version..but pretty much...seeing this angel drives the woman mad later onO_o

Working on those errors now *sketches

That looks rather cool there. Like I said in IMs, Nath's head is a little too big for the rest of the body, so I'd make it smaller or broaden the torso (which you don't want to do, so simply cut his head a little )

Apart from that I'd say dark grey or black cardstock would work nicely, since I imagine this in the nighttime hours. Wouldn't do to take some happy shiny color for that.

There is always a choice - but no one said you would have to like your options.

You really got an awesome sense of sensuality down with this - the way he's gently touching the strands of her hair. I really like the almost, worried/upset look on her face, and the way she's almost desperately clinging to her skirt.

Hmmm...what color cardstock...well, if there's supposed to be a night sky showing through the window, I would suggest a dark cardstock, either blue or black. That way, any of the gausy material will be easier to draw, since you can just use a light-colored pencil very gently.

I tell you what, I don't know how successful I would be in resisting him *_*

fantastic!!!!

i saw a quote yesterday that inspired me in a similar way. it reads, "Death makes Angels of us all, and gives us Wings where we had shoulders smooth as Ravens' wings." - Jim Morrison

of course, my sketch didn't come out nearly as good as yours great work. can't wait to see the finished version!
